The Body Recovery From Water Study
Statistics show that if a person is missing or absent, either through their own motives or by the actions of a third party, there is the potential that a proportion of these, if found deceased, may be found in water.
The Body Recovery From Water Study is a research project to explore the likely movement of human bodies in water. This research has the ultimate goal of bringing closure to the families of missing people who are lost in water, reducing risk to search personnel and preserving evidence for investigations. Please explore this site to find out more and get involved where you can.
On average, authorities in the USA deal with over 12,000 missing person reports per week. In the UK we deal with more than 6,000.
Thankfully the majority of missing people return home safely but for those who lose their lives, their bodies need to be found and questions answered.
Missing person search in a water environment is a complex area. It's essential to learn and develop so that we can offer the best possible service to those that need us.
